I have read with dismay the ramblings of madam Y Hutton as to my comment regarding the subject of heritage value.

Yes, I did make that comment, but with good reason and I do apologise to all those groups that Y Hutton has claimed that I have offended.
The reasoning of my comment is that over many years, I have seen valuable projects not only in Parkes but in other towns, either held up for long periods or the owners have just given up because of so-called heritage issues.
Some of these were beyond repair and went on to become vermin infested fire hazards.
Yes, I agree that in some cases, items should be kept but at what expense for the owners and the advancement of the town.
In her letter to the Editor, Y Hutton made various claims about what I had supposedly said as to the DA and the fact ratepayers must support this or Coles/Target will leave Parkes.
Also that council would be irresponsible if they also did not agree with the developer.
I refute those claims and I suggest that if Y Hutton wishes to discredit me or anyone else for that matter, to get her facts right and not rely on hearsay as it could come back to bite her.
Further more, I will be taking the time to contact those volunteer services she claims I offended and report to the Editor.
I will not waste any time or effort in speaking to the closed shop of the Historical Society.
George Pratt,
Parkes Shire Councillor.
