It was great to hear the sounds of whistles blowing and crowds cheering as well as the sound of laughter and enjoyment.
Grading games were held and some interesting sights were seen, especially the shock of white legs following a cold winter.
The experienced Transtank team took on a new team, Parkes Hotel Hodors.
The Hodors were full of familiar Parkes touch faces though, many of whom were red with exertion.
The “old stagers” from Transtank were not to be outdone and came away with a win.
The Divas in Blue and The Sherbets had a very close encounter.
Other matches saw the 181Ds exert authority over the CRM Commandos, whilst the Massive Shunts pushed Touch and Go over the edge.
The No Eye Deer newbies had only one player to have been involved with touch at any competitive level, but still had a wonderful time against Bloods Thicker.
This was a great game played in a wonderful spirit.
Taylor Draper did an exceptional job as referee and contributing to the fun.
A particular highlight was Emily Bass, of No Eye Deer, scoring a touchdown in her very first game.
UPPA had the upper hand over Bad Intentions while Hot Steppers had a stroll in the park over new team Yippee Try Yey, whose coach Elise Spedding commented, “We just need to stick to our council game plan”.
NFR have returned for another tilt at the title and showed much improved form.
Marcia Scally scored an excellent touchdown with a fine dive.
Middle of the Hill’s Christie Baker shows great style, but will score more times if she can determine which line is the scoreline.
It was also fantastic to see so many of the new Level One referees putting their newly learned skills into practice.
