BHP Billiton US shale unit hits pay dirt

BHP Billiton's petroleum boss Tim Cutt has assured investors that its $US20 billion ($21.6 billion) shale business in the US is set to turn a profit this year for the first time but has played down the near-term prospect of developing the group's LNG prospects off Western Australia.
