Nicole (pictured) is the daughter of Sue and Graham Tolhurst, and was announced at the official opening of the 134th annual Parkes Show.
Nicole, 21, works with the Roads and Maritime Services in Parkes as a Agency Business Centre Operator. She started there as a trainee after leaving Parkes High School.
The other contestants included Hannah Harris, Jane Oram and Paige Cunningham.
In the 50 years since the Showgirl competition has been held, three of Nicole’s aunties have also won the prestigious title.
In 1983 it was Catherine Nash, Mary Nash in 1989 and in 2001, Debbie Nash.
The opening was held in front of a good crowd with Northparkes Mines Managing Director, Stefanie Loader stepping in at the last moment to perform the official ceremony.
The planned guest, Rural Woman of the Year, Pip Job had to withdraw just before the occasion.
Ms Loader handled the emergency with aplomb, praising the Show Society, and particularly the many, many volunteers who make it all happen.
Another highlight of the opening was the presentation of Life Membership to two long time supporters - Linden Hall and Richard Crisp.
A good crowd was in attendance yesterday, and it was slowly building towards a huge turn-out last night to watch the fireworks.
The show continues today with another packed program.
