Both United teams, men and women, will face Souths in their quest to continue their respective charges to the 2014 title.
After wins against Souths in their previous encounters, both teams will head into tomorrow’s do-or-die semi full of confidence of progressing to next week.
The United women face Souths at 1.25pm.
The winner of the match will play the loser of the major semi-final between Lithgow Panthers and Bathurst City next weekend.
In their two encounters this year, Parkes hold the upper hand after a 2-all draw and a 5-1 win.
However, Souths were not at full strength for either of the matches.
Souths are an outstanding side who are experienced at finals hockey and boast the most dangerous forwards in the competition with twins Sarah and Jessica Watterson.
They are in outstanding goal-scoring form at present and will keep United’s defenders very busy tomorrow.
Tight marking will be required if Parkes hope to contain the pair.
Structurally, Souths play a similar style of play to Parkes. This should result in a very open match with opportunities for both teams to score.
The winner may well be decided by which side is the more clinical in front of goal.
United will put a high value on possession of the ball and look to improve on their turnovers from last weekend.
Patience on the ball, winning the free-hit and stick-to-stick passes will be a focus for coach Aaron Huppatz’s side as they look to continue their fantastic season so far.
In what is sure to be a fantastic day of Premier League hockey, the Parkes United men take on Souths in their elimination semi at 2.50pm.
United are coming off a dramatic match against competition leaders St Pat’s last week, losing in a high scoring affair 8-7.
Parkes’ attack has clicked into gear over the past month and if they are to progress to next week’s match against the loser of the St Pat’s - Lithgow Panthers major semi-final, it may come down to how well they can defend as a team.
When the two sides met nearly a month ago, United defeated Souths 3-1 in Bathurst.
They will hope to repeat the result tomorrow.
Both Premier League teams are hopeful that a big crowd of supporters will be on hand to cheer them on.
The United womens squad for tomorrow is Amy Thornberry, Codie Wakefield, Madelyn Williams, Denise Gersbach, Sarah Melhuish, Bec Cowling, Cass Hodges, Wendy Rix, Louise Hawken, Niamh Dixon, Syann Allen, Jess Ross, Janelle Thompson and Jane Grosvenor.
The United mens squad for tomorrow is Trent Thomson, Taylor Dolbel, Kieren Deland, Dan Wilson, Tim Somers, Ben Hawken, Regan Hotham, Hamish Orr, Kurt Lovett, Jacob Townsend, Jack Elliott, Andrew Bourke, Pete Amor, Aaron Thorne, Mitchell Townsend and Brendon Roffe.
