Fittingly, the Club and sponsor Col Fletcher Ford and Kia presented the trophy for Clubman of the Year to Darryle Rusten.
Darryle and Brett Hutchings took over the maintenance of the track at Parkes last year and have coordinated the resheeting and ongoing maintenance of the blue metal and sand based surface.
After a few hiccups, they have got things right and this contributed to last Saturday’s meeting being able to continue despite showery rain for the majority of the night.
Darryle accepted his award and admitted after that he was completely surprised by the honour.
He stressed that quite a few people also deserved the award, particularly Brett Hutchings who puts in as many hours on the track as he does.
Michael Munro accepted the trophy for the Rosewood Stud Leading Juvenile at Parkes for 2013-14 which was taken out by Kapow Shannon.
Owners Peter and Marie Neil were thrilled to learn that their three year old had won the title after scoring a strong win on the final night of the Parkes season.
Jason Gaffney was the winner of the Keith Thomson Leading Trainer and Driver within 100 kilometres of Parkes.
Likeallofus was named the Parkes Harness Racing Club Horse of the Year which was sponsored by Langlands Hanlon.
Nathan Hurst took out the IGA Parkes Trainer’s Premiership and the Reflection Jewellers Drivers Premiership for 2013-14.
David Harris Senior is currently battling health problems and could not be on hand to collect his trophy for the Byrne Clothing Leading Local Trainer for 2013-14.
However, it was fitting that his four children Robert, Darren, Belinda and David Junior were on hand to accept the award on his behalf.
David Junior won the Leading Local Driver Award which was also sponsored by Byrne Clothing.
Pictured are the award winners and some of the race winners from last Saturday night.
