Locals have been warned to be prepared for an unstoppable infection by the Reading Bug!
Together with the Paint the Town Read (PTTR) organisation, Peak Hill will hold a special community event titled ‘Operation REaD Alert’ on August 28.
The celebrations which kick off from 10am, will also coincide with National Literacy and Numeracy Week.
Peak Hill activities will focus on reading, singing talking, rhyming activities in the CBD area, a ceremony in the community gardens, with a very special surprise appearance by the Reading Bug taking place at 2pm at Lindner Oval.
“The Reading Bug’s appearance will be a bit mysterious, a very unusual surprise for all the children of Peak Hill,” Paint the Town Read's Creative Director Rhonda Brain said .
“It is hoped there will be much media in attendance, as well, to cover this unique event - it's not to be missed.
“It will be truly spectacular.”
Rhonda added that due to the veracity of the expected ‘bug attack', the region's defence force had been contacted!"
Operation REaD Alert's activities are aimed at all ages and it will be free for families to take part.
Events are expected to conclude at Lindner Oval by 3pm.
