Craft Corner had to vacate their former premises in Dalton Street when the building became structurally unsafe after the Auslec fire next door.
Members cleared all of their stock (which was undamaged by the fire) out, but were at a loose end as to where they would go.
In stepped local businessman, Ian Chambers who provided the perfect solution - the former Reflection Jewellers building right in the centre of town!
Craft Corner members are thrilled with the location, and the potential for the huge area of space available.
There is even talk of including an art gallery featuring the works accumulated by Parkes Shire Council as well as work by local artists.
Craft Corner president, Rosemary Mitchell said members worked on Saturday to clean out and prepare the building, and started bringing in stock this week.
It is expected Craft Corner could actually re-open for business by today.
The group has about 70 members, including out-of-towners, and most are expected to be involved in re-establishing the operation.
The new location will allow Craft Corner to be open a little longer on week days than in the past - opening 30 minutes earlier, and closing later, as well as 2pm on Saturday.
“We are thrilled with the location and hopefully it will enable visiting bus loads of people to better locate us. With our previous location, access was always difficult,” Rosemary said.
It is understood the location will also be utilised for Elvis Central for the 2015 Elvis Festival.
