Parkes Shire Council kindly donated trees to be planted with volunteers going home with green giveaways to add to their garden as well as Tree Day bags and Shirts from Toyota for their efforts.
Council prepared the site for planting and John Dowton from Council’s Parkes and Gardens Department had the water truck at the ready to give them a good start.
A regular at Parkes Tree Day, Cr Bob Haddin said it was a good day for planting.
“It is great to see some new faces amongst our Landcarers this year. We look forward to seeing these trees contribute to the ongoing beautification work at Bushman’s Hill,” he said.
If you’ve never taken a walk up ‘The Hill’, go and check it out.
There are fantastic views over Parkes and some wonderful, peaceful spots for a picnic lunch.
“Central West Lachlan Landcare (CWLL) have been fortunate to have the support of Parkes Shire Council to bring Tree Day together over many years. Last year’s Tree Day site is progressing well on the Renshaw-McGirr Way and we hope to see the same success at Bushman’s Hill in the years ahead” said Margot Jolly, Chairperson of CWLL.
The tree planting was followed by a BBQ lunch at the picnic shelter with a chance to catch up with families that have made it a tradition to attend Tree Day, new families and a couple of ladies who had Tree Day on their ‘bucket list’.
We look forward to seeing the trees thrive and appreciate the opportunity to be involved in the continued beautification of Bushman’s Hill.
