Alleyne won the Year 5/6 section for the Central Western, Oxley and Far Western regions when it was held in Cumnock.
Alley competed against students from across the area including Bathurst, Orange, Forbes, Narromine, Nyngan, as well as the other local Parkes schools.
Students were given a choice of three topics but Alleyne’s winning speech ‘Blessings’ was a topic close to her heart, with Stephen Gaut, Alleyne’s father, a Baptist minister and Greta, her mother, very much involved in the church.
Alleyne has been successful in the CWA Public Speaking Competition in the past, previously placing runner-up.
This year was said to be a very close competition but Alleyne heeded all the adjudicators previous positive advice and showed exceptional public speaking skills to take out the top award this year.
Alleyne’s speech concluded with the line “Our days are filled with many blessings…can you see yours?”
Middleton Public School certainly can.
