BLAYNEY outside centre Anthony Salmon says the equation for the Rams ahead of this year’s GrainCorp Cup southern zone semi-finals is simple - shut down the marvel, shut down Molong.

The Rams and Magpies appear set on a GrainCorp Cup collision course in 2014, with both sides turning up the heat throughout the regular season to find themselves in second and first place respectively on this year’s ladder in the lead-up to this weekend’s penultimate round.
Dubbed the Molong Marvel by the Dr Ross Memorial Oval faithful, the Magpies have been led to the top by five-eighth recruit Dan Sandford but after Blayney sprung an upset 13-7 win in June, Salmon believes the Rams hold the keys to the GrainCorp Cup castle this season.
“When we played Molong our forwards really set up the win,” Salmon said.
“We’ve got a sensational pack this year; the rolling maul, line-out, scrum, they’re really dominant and they do all of the hard work for the backs.”
Blayney’s latest victory this season came at home against West Wyalong, with the Rams dominant in a 31-5 victory at King George Oval.
Looking to cement a top two berth and a major semi-final blockbuster with Molong, Blayney will round out the regular season with a tough road trip to Condobolin before tackling CSU Orange in the final round.
Reserving special mention for brother James and Evan Stanbridge, Salmon believes his side is beginning to hit its straps.
“I think we’re performing pretty well with the players we’ve got,” the outside centre said.
“We’ve got a lot of players who are out one week and in another. The Stanbridge boys are playing well, so is Willo (Ben Williams) at 10. He’s really guiding the boys around the park well.”
