Now Prime Minister Tony Abbott's latest cycling adventure has taken in the sights of the city of love.
In Paris for D-Day commemorations, Mr Abbott was up early on Saturday to embark on his own Tour de France, cruising past the Arc de Triomphe as part of the Mates4Mates battlefield bike ride in support of injured Australian ex-service members.
When asked in December if his exercise regime has suffered in the top job, Mr Abbott replied: ''The short answer is no.'' He has said he started cycling regularly in his 40s. ''It's better on the joints than running,'' Mr Abbott posted on Facebook.
