With entries still coming in, organisers said they can and would warmly welcome more entries.
“We can definitely cater for more players, both ladies and men,” tournament director Lynnie Roberts said.
Individual competitions will be played in Parkes (Monday), Forbes (Tuesday), Condobolin (Wednesday), then Parkes again on Thursday before the final round in Forbes on Friday which will be 4BBB medley stableford.
The major event during the week will be the NSWVGA trophy which will be awarded at the presented dinner being held at the Parkes Golf Club after play on Thursday.
The major players must qualify by competing in one of the earlier 18 hole individual rounds.
Visiting golfers will be welcomed to the tournament from 5pm on Sunday, April 27 at the Forbes Golf Club.
“We are hoping for more players, regardless of the fact we have players from 18 different clubs already nominated,” Roberts said. “At the end of the day we hope to have well over 100 players, similar to past years.”
Roberts said there are several in the field already nominated who should lead the way including Peter Gillham from Windsor who plays off a 6 handicap, Bob Rose (Cumberland, 8), Roy Gleeson (Coolangatta/Tweed Heads, 9) and Peter Murray (Nelsons Bay, 10).
“Locals have already nominated Ian Phipps from Parkes who plays off a 6 handicap while from the Forbes club we have Barry Shine off 9 and Jeff Haley 10, who on their day can put in a good round,” Roberts said.
“If Alf Davies, handicap 6 and Ray Taylor 8 play, you can bet they will be around the money at all courses.”
In the ladies division the best scratch trophies appear to be Sandra England (Nowra, 15), Lynette Hatchman (Nowra), Gail Murray (Nelsons Bay), Bev Branson (Russell Vale) and Forbes pair Ethel Coombs and Fran Smith, all off 19 handicaps.
Nominations are still to be received and can be directed to Lynnie Roberts on 6852 3473 or golf clubs at Condobolin 6895 2465, Parkes 6862 2044, or Forbes 6851 1554.
