Now in its 23rd year, the Parkes Elvis Festival has grown from within the community, managed by a passionate volunteer organisation of Elvis enthusiasts to become what is now a major annual festival attracting more than 15,000 visitors annually and injecting over $9 million into the regional economy.
The new Festival Committee will be responsible for ensuring the strategic growth and sustainability of the Festival into the future.
The Committee, now under the auspice of Parkes Shire Council will consist of Council representatives, Parkes Elvis Revival Inc members and Parkes Chamber of Commerce representatives, and two independent community members which Council is now inviting expressions of interest for.
The Parkes Elvis Festival Committee will be supported by the resources of Council including the employment of a full time Festival Director who will actively develop plans and implement activities to deliver the festival each year and achieve the strategic objectives of the committee.
Applications addressing the selection criteria are being received by Council.
A package relating to the work of the Committee and the role Community Representatives will play is available from the Parkes Shire Council Administrative Centre or online at www.parkes. nsw.gov.au by checking under the featured programs section.
