eBooks are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They Can be downloaded from the library at home, on the bus, or from anywhere a connection to the Internet is possible.
The library's eBook collection has reached a milestone - there are now over 1,000 titles to choose from.
A huge range of fiction, non-fiction, biographies for adults, youth and juniors is available.
Shellie Buckle, Manager Cultural, Education and Library Services said the library has over 50 members regularly borrowing eBooks from their growing collection.
“We know more people are powering up e-reading devices and logging online for e-books, news, and research help, and our library is committed to supporting a vibrant culture of reading and learning,” Shellie said.
What is currently being borrowed ranges from the good old-fashioned romances to hard hitting biographies such as All I know by Mary Coustas, Best Love stories of 2013, The Guardians of Justice series of books by Irene Hannon, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, Living Proof that Cats do have Nine Lives by Janet Hayward, No Trace by Barry Maitland, Redstone Station by Therese Creed and Watching the Climbers on the Mountain by Alex Miller.
An outstanding range of Australian authors have recently been added to the collection, such as Matthew Reilly, Di Morrissey and Colleen McCullough, and other international authors such as Wilbur Smith, Peter Robinson, David Baldacci, Iris Johansen and Dorothy Koomson.
It is hoped that the next collection to come online will be electronic magazines, eMagazines.
According to Shellie the collection is currently being costed and assessed.
“We are looking at a product called Zinio to bring a range of Australian and international eMagazines to the community. It would work in a similar manner to the eBook collection.
“Download and read from anywhere at your convenience,” Shellie said.
If you are interested in eMagazines, specifically to help select which magazines to make available, Shellie is keen to hear from you.
