They look for no reward save for the good feelings engendered by doing something for others.
This is whether it is doing the shopping or mowing the lawns for someone who is handicapped or too frail, or maybe they visit lonely patients at the hospital or one of the nursing homes.
Perhaps they just keep an eye on your property when you are away or take you to see your doctor or dentist.
There are hundreds of ways a person can be a good neighbour and Parkes Rotary again wants you to nominate them for this award.
“Being the type of person they are, Good Neighbours rarely seek attention so the award presentation has been planned to be a low key event as the last thing we want to do is embarrass these wonderful people,” Rotary presiident, Colin Offner said.
“So the presentation will be similar to previous years with a barbecue lunch at the Neighbourhood Centre on Thursday, May 15, at 12.30pm.
“All sponsors and the nominated Good Neighbours will be invited and all nominees will receive a Certificate of Merit,” Mr Offner said.
“The committee feels that all of the nominees will be winners but one will be selected to receive a $50 voucher at the IKON Restaurant at Hotel Gracelands as will their nominator so that they can enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner together.”
The nomination form will be published regularly in the Champion Post (at right today).
If you wish to nominate a Good Neighbour just complete the form and write a summary about why you have nominated them and drop it into the Champion Post by no later than Friday, May 9
Don’t forget to include contact details for both you and the Good Neighbour.
The Good Neighbour Award is held in conjunction with The Champion Post and Parkes Neighbourhood Centre
