Traditional rivals Dubbo CYMS and Dubbo Macquarie went head-to-head at No.1 Oval on Friday night, with the Fishies prevailing 12-6 in wet and sloppy conditions.
In the lower grades, CYMS beat the Raiders 22-16 in under-18s while Macquarie scored a tough 16-12 win in the reserve grade fixture
The following day at the same venue, competition newcomers Dubbo Westside scored their maiden win against a Group 11 side when a penalty goal to Kurt Fuller after the full-time siren gave the Rabbitohs a 34-32 win over Nyngan.
With the trials over and Easter approaching the stage is now set for a busy few weeks in local rugby league.
Dubbo Macquarie will host Dubbo Westside in the Rabbitohs' first competition match, which is expected to attract a large crowd to Apex Oval on Friday, April 25.
Last year's runners-up CYMS will start their season with a long away trip to Cobar.
