Parkes captain Josh Duffy won the toss and sent the visitors into bat.
Parkes produced a strong bowling and fielding performance to never give Young a foothold in the match.
Parkes soon had the upper hand with Young on 1-1 after losing an early wicket.
Parkes’ opening bowlers Josh Duffy and Benji Glasheen bowled excellent line and length with Josh swinging the ball and Benji bowling with good speed.
They restricted the Young batsmen to 3-11 after eight overs.
Parkes had great depth in their bowling as first change bowlers Nick Mackenzie and Jonah Ruzgas backed up the excellent start with two wickets each.
All seven bowlers used performed well.
Josh Duffy (3/1), Benji Glasheen (0/7), Nick Mackenzie (2/7), Jonah Ruzgas, Will Moore (0/10), James Mackenzie (2/4) and Darcy Cusack (1/0) were all very impressive with their control.
The fielders supported the bowling with some fine catches made by Mirhan Sarkissian, Josh Duffy, Darcy Cusack and James Ward.
Wicket-keeper Corey McDean took a sharp stumping off James Mackenzie’s off spin bowling.
Nathan Pye pounced on any ball that came his way in the covers.
Young were all out for 35 runs after 22 overs.
Parkes were quietly confident of an early finish to the match.
Openers Jonah Ruzgas and James Mackenzie were diligent in their approach to the run chase.
Three runs short of victory, James Mackenzie (18) was bowled by J. Flannery, giving Young something to smile about.
Jonah Ruzgas (12no) and James Ward (2no) closed the match out for a Parkes win.
The Under 14s have pride in their ability to play as a team with everyone making important contributions and deserving their premiership honours.
They showed great sportsmanship and ability throughout the season.
Unfortunately Greg Morrissey could not be there to witness the win.
When he was told, it brought a smile to his face.
