McGlashan played consistent golf and the round could have been better as he plundered the well prepared course with a brilliant array of shot making.
The superb round started on the wrong foot however, as he recorded a bogey four on the par three 1st hole after a poor par putt.
Birdies on the 7th and 9th holes saw McGlashan make the turn at one under after an outward nine holes of 34.
On the back nine, McGlashan struggled as firstly his putter then his marvellous short game let him down when birdies were beckoning.
However, a birdie three on the final hole saw the likeable McGlashan finish his round with a great 70 off the stick.
In accepting his spoils of victory that also included the Dwyers Fresh Butchery award in the handicap section after his 66 nett, McGlashan congratulated both Telescope Tyres & Batteries as well as Dwyer’s Fresh for their support and sponsorship.
Doubles were the order of the day as Mayor Ken Keith took out the B Grade with a well compiled round of 85 for a nett 65.
Veteran Ron Klein enjoyed the added run on the course to win the C Grade with a round of 90 for the day’s best nett score of 65.
In a return to form, Charlie Allen, after months of inconsistent scores, finally put a good round on the board in winning the Veterans mug with a 68 nett.
McGlashan capped off a brilliant day by winning the Griffins Leading Edge putting competition with 26 putts as well as the two nearest the pin awards in two shots on the Parkes Ready Mixed Concrete 9th hole and the Parkes Heavy Mechanical Repairs 18th at 187cm and 66cm respectively.
In other nearest the pin awards, Allan Jewell took out the Idlerite Tyrepower 1st hole at 270cm.
Tom Medcalf cleaned up on the Griffins Leading Edge 4th hole at 326cm while Col Barker proved too good at 253cm on the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole.
On the back nine, Peter Dixon snared the Harvey Norman 11th hole after his tee shot came to rest just 72cm from the hole while on the difficult Westlime sponsored 15th hole Thomas Ward was declared the winner at 722cm.
The other notable occurrence from Saturday’s round was by Allan Jewell on the 471 metre par five, 2nd hole after a drive, 3-wood and a chip resulted in a superb eagle three which earned him six golf balls.
