Lynda assessed Council’s sole entry into this year’s competition – the Solar Communities Program entered in the Water Conservation and Energy Efficiencies category.
Ms Newnam also visited Trundle and Tottenham where both towns entered in the ‘Overall’ category section.
Trundle has also entered the Cultural Heritage and School Environment sections, while Tottenham was assessed in the Bush Spirit category too.
Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities is the flagship program of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW.
This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the program which fosters and recognises group and individual endeavours that protect, preserve and enhance local environments and communities across regional NSW.
During the first week of August, assessors evaluated 200 projects in 68 rural and regional communities.
“I had a wonderful time being guided around Trundle and Tottenham by passionate and highly effective volunteers,” Ms Newnam said.
“And I couldn’t have been made feel more welcome during my visit to Parkes where I also got to experience The Dish for the first time.”
