Whilst consistent showers made play extremely frustrating, it was the pre-event favourites Aaron Wilkie and Lynne Guise who handled the conditions best as they returned solid scores 80 and 40 for 120 to lead home the field.
Blake Parker and Margaret Hogan were some six shots back in the runners-up position.
Wilkie and Guise started disastrously when they recorded a triple-bogey seven on the 385 metre, par four 3rd hole.
However, with consistent play including a birdie two on the par three 6th hole saw the winners turn after nine holes at seven over par.
With just two shots covering the leading six pairs a close battle looked imminent.
Over the next nine holes, Wilkie and Guise were to assert their authority as they spreadeagled the field in returning a brilliant two over par 38.
They went in after 18 holes as three shot leaders over eventual runners-up Parker and Hogan.
If Parker and Hogan were to take the challenge up to the leaders, it would have to of come in the first five of the final nine holes.
When the leaders were only two over par, the task was made extremely difficult.
The challenge petered out as Wilkie and Guise cruised to a six shot victory.
In Consolation Division, club President Mark Kelly and partner Judy McCabe blitzed the strong field to record an eight shot victory after equally consistent rounds of 96 and 46 for a 142 total.
Runners-up were Michael Smith and Liz Matthews while pre-event and defending titleholders Len Archer and Barbara Donnelly finished in third place on 152.
In handicap sections, Wilkie and Guise made it a double in the major division when they finished on 109 ¼.
Filling the runners-up position were Ian Phipps and Kaye Jones to make it a family affair.
In the Consolation Division Mark Kelly and Judy McCabe also made it a double with a 10 shot win after finishing on 108 ¼ nett with Reg and Lyn Davison next best.
At the presentation of trophies, Club Captain Paul Thomas congratulated the ANZ Bank on its sponsorship which is now in its 34th year.
He heaped praise on the players who battled the extremely wet conditions.
