This morning the Queen will tour the Clontarf Aboriginal College in the city's south and watch basketball and football demonstrations by students.
She will officially open the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting tomorrow after being hosted by Premier Colin Barnett at a special garden reception tonight along with 1800 other guests, including Channel Seven personalities Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr and fashion designers Ray Costarella and Melanie Greensmith.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Edinburgh will be guided through the Physics Building at the University of Western Australia today before witnessing a demonstration of a VK1 mineral exploration device.
The Queen and her entourage arrived ahead of schedule at 4.20pm yesterday at the Perth International Airport. Her Majesty was welcomed by the Governor of Western Australia Malcolm McCusker and his wife Tonya, Premier Colin Barnett, Lyn Barnett and Defence Minister Stephen Smith.
Unlike Prime Minister Julia Gillard, all ladies curtsied upon receiving the Queen.
A small crowd of about 500 people braved the rain and cool conditions bearing roses and the Union Jack.
Loud cheers erupted as the doors to the royal aircraft, Regal One, opened.
Her Majesty emerged wearing the same fuchsia coat and matching wide-brimmed hat she wore as she departed Melbourne earlier yesterday.
While she failed to wave to the crowd as she left the tarmac, fans then lined Great Eastern Highway as the 12-car motorcade made its way toward the CBD.
A large number of men, children and women in hats and bold coloured dresses waited patiently outside Government House and St Georges Terrace.
The Queen's official ladies in waiting collected gifts of flowers from the crowd before the party moved inside the Governor's residence where the West Australian flag was flying high.
The monarch's last visit to Perth was in March 2000, this is her eighth visit to WA.
