Family ties crucial for Orcher brothers?

06 Feb, 2012 07:48 AM
Family ties could be crucial for the Forbes Magpies in Group 11 rugby league this year, with first grade coach last year’s Spaceman, Neil Orcher welcoming a couple of new recruits to pre-season training this week.

Orcher said his sons Rowan, 23, and Ben, 22, had both agreed to play for the Magpies in 2012, and had now started training for the upcoming West Wyalong knock-out later this month.

Rowan Orcher has joined his dad from the Parkes Spacemen while younger sibling Ben has been recruited from Dubbo Macquarie.

Both Orcher boys represented Group 11 in 2011, with Ben featuring in the group side’s match against Fiji, and Rowan a regular member of last year’s squad who went on to earn NSW Country Seconds selection.

The Magpies have started twice-weekly training in preparation for the West Wyalong Knockout on February 24-25.

Forbes also look likely to retain several graduates from last year’s under 18s team, including Chris Butler, Jake Goodwin and Martin Herbert.
