Squash roundup
Following are details of last week’s games:
A grade – round 2
Kross 25 – Coles 25; Swindles 31 – Trotmans 19; McClearys 31 – Rogans 19; Poons 35 – Parkers 15.
Eddie Poon’s team have started this new comp with some impressive results.
All five team members scored wins.
Line five in Poons team Lee Baker is a bit of unknown expectations, his only squash of recent has been as ‘on call’ during the last winter comp.
Playing Mel Jones last week, he had one wobbly game, the third, which he lost 4/15 but cleaned up in the others, to win 17/15, 15/13, 4/15, 15/9.
Chad Porter (Poons number 4) is also back into comp squash and appears to have quickly found his squash legs, he won 3/1 against Sam Pearce.
Dave Brinkley one of the Forbes boys back playing in the Parkes’ comp, showed no special favours towards Parkes oldest player, Neil Macaulay.
Neil has had ‘sick leave’ in recent months, but is now back hale and hearty and slowly easing himself back into competition squash.
Three close games 5/12, 15/13, 15/13 all favoured Dave.
One of only two five game matches last week was between Luke Swindle and Kristen Nightingale.
It was a see-sawing five games, Luke had a different racquet for nearly every game, but after being down 1/ 2, came home after winning the last two games 15/8, 15/13.
Some consolation for Kristen, she had the higher points tally 67-64.
Captain Eddie Poon, kept his teams winning streak intact with a 3/1 defeat of John Parker.
Poons should find things a little tougher as they line up against the McClearys tomorrow night, as they also recorded some good form in amassing 31 points over Rogans last week.

B grade
Hannelly’s 24 – Owens 16; Joyces 29 – Jones 11; Burkes 21 – Iveys 19; Labuschagnes 23 – Tolhursts 17.
Rob Johnson looked like having an easy win over Laura Miller last week.
He started well, 15-5, 15-1, he could be forgiven for thinking it was going to be an easy one.
Laura picked the pace up though, and win some smart squash managed to come home the winner, securing the last three games, 15-10, 15-9, 15-11.
Peter Hannelly also got a good start on Karen Owens.
Peter was up 2-0 but couldn’t contain Karen in the third or fourth game, Karen securing the fourth in a narrow long game, 17-14.
The decider was neck and neck with Peter finally finishing the match 15-13.
Newcomer Cassandra Hill seems to like the five setters.
Last week she lost in a hard fought five setter, this time, up against Lisa Bicket, Cassandra managed to come away with the win, only just 7-15, 15-11, 3-15, 15-9, 15-13.
Nicole Tolhurst has just been promoted from the junior ranks, is already two wins from two matches.
Nicole took on Monique Labushchagne to claim her second win, with both ladies playing some great squash in this tense five setter.
Nicole claiming the all important fifth set to secure the match, 9-15, 15-7, 15-10, 12-15, 15-9.
Michelle Bicket also had to work hard for her win against another junior, Kyle Coultas.
Kyle took the first game 15-13, but Michelle managed to stay ahead in the rest 15-13, 15-13, 15-8.
