Registration and first ride for the year will take place on Sunday, 7 February 2010 from 5pm to 8pm at the clubs grounds on the corner of Orange and Tanks roads which is on the outskirts of Parkes.
The afternoon will commence with registration of riders, gear check and then move into some riding, finishing up with a barbecue dinner.
The club’s new committee comprising Jason Wythes President, Troy Hopley Vice President, Treasurer Maree Cooper and Secretary Leeanne Hopley have some exciting plans for the club, which include potential upgrade of the facilities available to members.
Pony Club is a youth organisation whose’ aims are to promote citizenship, sportsmanship and horsemanship for riders under the age of 25.
Throughout the year there are
various instructional days and
competitions available for riders to participate in, including Show
and Cross country Jumping, Flat
riding and Dressage and Sporting
and Mounted Games to name a
few.
Additionally there are coaching accreditation for adults/parents ensuring that consistent instruction and safety are achieved.
2009 saw members achieve
across a number of riding
disciplines both within and outside Pony Club.
The annual Zone gymkhana held in July in West Wyalong saw Parkes Pony club win the Club teams event, overall point score and Parkes rider Megan Pearce won the individual point score.
State representatives for 2009 were Isobel and Megan Pearce, State Dressage Championships and Elizabeth Wythes State Show riding.
