Parkes Women’s Bowling Club
The CWDWBA Veterans Day was held Thursday, 6 May. With 96 players and non-players we certainly had a very busy but enjoyable day.
With the arrival of bowlers from Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Parkes Railway Diggers and our own club, the day began with a very welcome cup of tea.
Bowlers started the day with the “Traditional Spider” and the winners in this event were Anne Collins (Cowra), Mary Everson (Forbes), Betty Morgan (Cowra), Norma Pollock (Parkes Railway Diggers).
After a morning of playing in a team of “Fours”, players and non-players retired to the dining room where a smorgasbord of tasty Chinese and Australian food awaited.
Many people were seen to be going back for seconds and this was a clear indicator of how tasty the food was that George and Jan presented.
Audrey Jones, our Club President, thanked our caterers on behalf of all present.
A special “thank you” to all our club members who arrived early to arrange and decorate the tables and organised morning tea, also the ladies for washing up, thus allowing the bowling to start on time. We certainly have a willing band of workers.
