Big job to prepare for championships

23 Jul, 2010 10:06 AM
Preparations for the Womens Veterans Half State hockey titles have been going on for many months and now they are here, everything is very much in place.

Ten marquees have been set up for the visiting teams, as well as a huge merchandising complex.

As well, hundreds of bread rolls, loaves of bread, sausage rolls, pies, drinks, slices, cakes etc have been organised.

Not to mention home made pumpkin soup, spaghetti bolognaise, roast beef and gravy, bacon and egg rolls, and much more to tempt the palates of the hundreds of visiting players and spectators.

Two mobile coffee vans will also be in operation.

The canteen will be in operation for all three days of the championships, starting at about 11am today in readiness for the first game at 1pm; then from about 6.30-7am tomorrow and Sunday.

The call for volunteers to assist over the weekend has resulted in a good response and good weather should ensure a magnificent weekend.
