JUNIOR TENNIS WITH THE ACE

A warm Tuesday afternoon greeted players last week for round 5 of junior competition.

The list is on the bench for next terms competition which will commence the first Tuesday after the school holidays.

The free barbecue and presentations for all players will be held March 30 with names to be given to the canteen ladies tomorrow please.

Results from round 5 as follows:

BLACK

Mihran Sarkissian is having a great term and working hard on his serving at his training. This is paying off and he defeated Josh Drabsch last week 5/1.

Will Jones and Danny Warren played a nice match with some beaut rallies. Will eventually won 6/4.

Harrison Byrnes and Bryce Taylor are both hitting the ball well and trying to use more placement with their shots. They finished evenly matched with a 3 all draw.

Charlie Umbers played very well to keep Luke Evans to a 4 all draw.

BLUE

Yasmin Potts and Gab Noakes always have excellent matches and their rallies were long and hard-fought last week. Yas just got Gab in the end 4/3.

Jack Kearney has been making some excellent progress this term and it showed last week when he played Mitchell Townsend and made Mitch chase everything down. Eight games were played and although Mitch tried hard he couldn’t get on the scoreboard.

James Ward was made to work hard when he played Mathieu Bouchard last week. Mathieu can hit some nice shots at times but James won their encounter 5/4.

Ben Evans outplayed Patrick Jones 7/3 in the final match in the Blue division.

GREEN

Jed Rauchle was on the winners list again last week when he played well to defeat Daniel Unger 17/3 while Will Goodsell and Robert Wilton played a 3 all draw.

Charlie Goodsell beat Ryan Lydford 5/3.

PURPLE

Rachel Brown and Jess Swindle had a good match with Rach scoring a close 4/3 win.

Caitlin Bell played extra well with her new racquet to score an 8/0 win over Georgia Kearney. Georgia was seen playing some nice shots and when she gets a few muscles watch out opponents.

Hannah Symington also had a big score against Markarid Sarkissian with a 7/0 victory.

RED

Russell Cabban was made to work hard in his match against Lucy Wright scoring a close 4/2 win while Amanda Berger proved too solid for Cassie Bryant 9/1.

Travis Bell and Isabelle Evans had some nice rallies and were evenly matched which showed with their 4 all scoreline.

Good to see Hedley Wilson score his first win of the term and it was a surprise victory over Emma Evans 4/1.

SILVER

Charles Ward keeps marching toward the podium with yet another comfortable win. He was too consistent for Ryan Brewer 7/2.

Felix Bouchard had a close 3/2 win over Calum Weekes.

WHITE

Georga Whatling scored a forfeit over Riley Baxter while Hannah McColl and Tia Rauchle finished 3 all.

In the battle of the beauties on court 5 it was Phoebe Potts who scored the closest of wins 4/3 over twin sister Hannah. They had some nice rallies but it was right handed Phoebe’s good serving proving the difference.

SINGLES AND DOUBLES

Emily Thomson and Harry Williams have combined very well this term and scored another good 3 sets to 0 win over James Beuzeville and Claudia Simpson.

Mat King and Rachael Westcott were pleased with their 2 sets to 1 win over Badih Mansour and Amy Draper. Well done to Amy who scored a hard fought 6/4 win over Rach in their singles.

PSSA KNOCKOUT

There were no matches in Parkes last week however Charlie Umbers small schools team were victorious against Forbes Public and they will now play Parkes Public in the next couple of weeks.

Middleton travelled to Tottenham late last week and there was no result when this article went to print.

DUBBO MJDS

The Dubbo Medibank Junior Development Series tournament is on this Sunday. All Parkes junior squad members will be travelling there along with Alex and Luke Evans, Yasmin Potts and Carleton Magill.
