Parkes Shire Council has honoured the Hando family from the Rosewood Stud at Peak Hill after they were named this year’s Honourees for the upcoming Bathurst Gold Crown Harness Racing series.
Over the years, the Hando Family – spearheaded by 92 year-old Eric and his 90 year-old wife Dorothy – have contributed greatly towards the success of the series.
Their significant involvement with the Bathurst Gold Crown has been as breeders, selling many yearlings through the Gold Crown Sale.
Eric and Dorothy, accompanied by family members, were present at Tuesday’s council meeting where Eric proudly accepted a plaque from Mayor Ken Keith (see picture back page).
“Being chosen this year’s Honourees by the Bathurst Harness Racing Club is a significant achievement indeed,” Cr Keith said.
