The 2009 Terry Bros Furniture and Furnishings championship was won by Adam Ferguson with rounds of 74-80-75-70 for a total score of 299 strokes.

In racing terms Adam was in the wash bay when the runner up former champion John Green was rounding the home turn.

Adam by virtue of birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th for a final round of one under par 70 clearing out to win by 18 shots.

The B grade section saw one of the youngest come to the fore in the shape of 13 year old Thomas Ward with rounds of 87, 82, 84, 91 for a 344 total being two shots to the good of Mark Kelly.

Another barrier to box effort saw resident C grader Joe Goodie, 91, 93, 90, 98 for 372 being a winner by some 15 shots to Mick Smith.

Veterans champion for 2009 is Michael Mitchelson with 87, 85, 83, 92 for 347 being victorious in a canter possibly due to some stars missing in action.

Junior winner was Justin Sutton and schoolboy to Kyle Bell.

The 72 holes handicap to club champion Adam Ferguson with 283 nett.

The 18 holes each day winners were A grade: Day one, Aaron Wilkie 70 on countback; Day two, Charlie Allen, 72 nett; Day three, Ron Klein 67 nett; Day four, Adam Ferguson 66 net on countback.

B grade: Day one, Ron Klein, 69 nett; Day two, Thomas Ward, 67 nett; Day three, Ron Klein, 67 nett; Day four, Joe Vanopynen 65 nett.

In the C grade: Day one, Joe Goodie, 69 nett;, Day two Bernie McCabe 67 nett; Day three, Scrubba Evans 58 nett, Wow! and Day four, Kyle Bell 64 nett, round three balls to 71 nett; Day four, ball allocation Peter Dixon 66; Mark Kelly 66nett, Wayne Powter, 69 nett.

Phil Barnard, Phil Bishop and Steve Lee 72 nett.

Nearest the pins: 4th Wayne Powter 187cms; 11th Adam Ferguson 237cms.

At presentations all winners were highly appreciative of the sponsorship from Ben Terry of Terry Brothers Furniture and Furnishings for yet another successful championship.

No hole in one was scored so the Halls Jewellers watch was drawn and if you played the four rounds you were in the running, the winner being captain Phil Barnard.

Chicken run 21/10, 30 starters: Chris Goodie 23 points; Terry Walsh 19+4=23 points; Nigel Kingham 21 square 21 points; Mick Miller 20 square 20; Graeme Cooke 18+2 = 20 on a countback;with Mel Jones securing a chicken dinner by way of the lucky draw.

Veterans news last Thursday saw a reduced field of 27 starters at Forbes due to Clive Dukes funeral.

Parkes ball winners were: Wal Norman 27 points; Gidgie Leister 27 points; Ron Daniels, The Bradman.
