NIGHT TENNIS
From The Umpires Chair
Last term’s winter tennis competitions have now concluded (see results below) and players are now looking forward to the plethora of new night competitions that are due to start next week.
If you would like to play there is still time to enter, but you’ll have to be quick! The comps will commence from next Monday, October 19, and will run for approximately 9 weeks.
There will be competitions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and now also on Thursday nights.
Names must be in ASAP by calling Di Scott on 0417437417 before this Wednesday so that the draws can be organised and compiled.
Monday nights cater for A grade right through to scrubbers.
There will be 2 divisions of A grade; one division playing singles and doubles, and the other playing doubles only.
The B grade social and scrubbers mixed and ladies divisions’ play doubles only and is pretty laid-back for those just wanting a bit of fun.
The Tuesday night comp is now at capacity and organisers have had to offer an alternative night for this popular comp.
There will now be a comp in the same format (team of three, playing 1 set of singles and 2 sets of doubles) playing on THURSDAY nights.
If anyone has entered on Tuesday and would rather play on Thursday, please advise Di (0417437417) as soon as possible.
The comps are of an average standard, playing socially competitive singles and doubles for ladies, men and high-schoolers.
Wednesday night is the popular mixed team’s night. Players organise their own teams of 2 ladies and 2 men, playing doubles and mixed doubles.
There will be one division playing one round over 9 weeks, in a first-past-the-post format.
At this stage there is only one spot left in this comp.
If any team is struggling to find ladies, please call Di as there are two keen players who want to join a team.
