After a 15 year absence, the David Coulston Memorial Trophy returned home courtesy of Justin Sutton who fired a three over par 74 to take out the main event.
Runner up was Bill Nixon from Forbes with a 78 on a countback.
In the handicap section it was Cameron Mitchell of Orange with 70 from Travis Roweth (Wentworth), 72 also on a countback.
To the age divisions and in the boys 18 years and under, Jonathon Connelly from Warren won the scratch with 88 on a countback.
Playing in his first big competition Michael Lennox of Parkes secured the handicap on 73.
In the boys 16 and under, the scratch went to James Grierson from Forbes with 78 and Parkes’ Blake Parker blew the handicap section away with 57.
Adam Snare from Orange was victorious in the boys 14 and under on 87, while the countback was again introduced to declare the handicap winner as Nick Fitzpatrick of Young on 75.
Bathurst’s Scott Matheson took the scratch for boys 12 and under with 85, and Lee Grierson of Forbes, the handicap on 72.
Unfortunately, the girls side of things was not at all well represented.
However Kayla Smith of Blayney took the girls open trophy with 93.
The girls under 18 scratch went to Amy Harding of Young with 118, and the under 14 scratch was won by Chloe McCarthy from Orange with 111.
It was all Parkes in the cadets section.
In the scratch Alex Evans returned 47 to win from Nathan Murphy on 50, while the handicap produced three players on 29 and following the countback, Daniel Ferguson got the nod from Lachlan Buesnell.
The nearest the pin on the first went to James Gordon from Cootamundra, 4th Cameron Mitchell (Orange), 6th Jake Hodge (Parkes), 11th Jonathon Connelly (Warren) and 15th Min Cheng (Orange).
Lachlan Vallet D.G.A. Junior Promotions Officer, Andrew Grierson was on hand to present the trophies.
Organisers acknowledged the invaluable assistance of the Board of Directors of the Parkes Golf Club, the greens and house staff for the use of the club’s course and facilities, Rick Glover for the cards, Michael Smith and Tania Job for cooking lunch, and the generous sponsorship of Ron Dunford for making the tournament a success.
