Toby impresses in first trial match

03 Feb, 2012 07:43 AM
Former Parkes rugby league player Toby Evans enjoyed his first official hit-out with the Penrith Panthers last Saturday.

The talented halfback lined up for the Panthers under 20s in a trail game against Canberra in Goulburn.

He set up two tries with good passes and later in the game grubber kicked ahead, regathered and took two players with him over the line to score one himself.

He played a big role in ensuring the Panthers won the trial 32-22.

The next trial match for the Panthers NYC team is against Newcastle in Toronto on February 12.

MEANWHILE, Evans’ former Spacemen and Red Bend team mate Sam Coster has been named in the second row for the St George-Illawarra Dragons NYC team for their trial against the Bulldogs in Wollongong this Sunday.
