Aaron Wilkie and Brenden Westcott Smash MiTChell U/16S
Special congratulations must go to Aaron Wilkie (101 v Mitchell at Orange in U/16s) and Brenden Westcott (81 not out v Mitchell at Orange in U/16s).
Aaron and Brenden spearheaded the Lachlan U/16s to a commanding victory in the U/16 match, Lachlan 3/231 in 50 overs, defeating Mitchell 10/167 in 47 overs, by 64 runs.
Aaron Wilkie has for some time demonstrated he has a watertight defensive game. In scoring a masterly 101, Aaron displayed his usual tight defensive game for his first 50 runs but then opened up to show a wide array of aggressive shots to power on to a century during the second 50 runs of his fine innings.
Brenden Westcott followed up his highly impressive 74 v Macquarie Valley by playing another supremely efficient and power laden innings of 81 n.o. v Mitchell. Indeed the Parkes – Peak Hill based early order batsmen in the Lachlan U/16 team of Aaron Wilkie (101), Myles Smith (36)
and Brenden Westcott (81no) proved to be the foundation behind the top batting effort of the Lachlan U/16s against the much vaunted Mitchell attack.
