New format for squash

20 Nov, 2009 09:09 AM
Junior Squash

A completely different format for junior squash will start tonight.

The courts will be made available for seniors as well as juniors, as long as the seniors are prepared to give some court time to practise with a junior.

Doubles as well as singles will be played, and also some coaching from Fay Blackstock if wanted.

If ever there was a time that you wanted

to have a go at

squash, Friday nights would be the time. Cost is $4 each and the time will be from 6pm till 8.30pm.

Beginners very welcome.

Last Friday night we held the finals of our Annual Junior Championships.

Eddie Poon and Kristen Nightingale were both successful at retaining their titles, Eddie defeating Brenton Nightingale in a close four-game set, and Kristen defeating Nicole Tolhurst in three games.

Justin Healey took out Division 2 with a sound win over Sam Tighe.

Division 3 saw Katie Healey playing top squash to defeat Ashleigh Tolhurst in four games.

Young James Ward had quite a battle on his hands when he took on Jade Parker in Division 4. Jade hasn’t been playing long but is a natural at squash, she pushed James to a long game in the fifth, going down narrowly 17-15.

Dylan Price was the winner of Division 5. He played Kacey Nightingale in the final and she really put it to him, serving very well. Dylan was victorious 3 games to 1.
