Kumiai-Ryu Martial Arts System has recently introduced the ‘Little Ninjas’ childrens martial arts learning program into its already expansive self-defence system.
Little Ninjas is a specifically designed martial arts program for children aged 4 to 11 years.
The program has been developed in consultation with childhood learning experts, to enhance individual learning, behavioural and social outcomes for children of pre-school, infant and primary school ages.
The program aims to deliver the core syllabus through a structured, fun and physically active program environment.
Little Ninjas is a ‘non testing’ syllabus. The children are progressively assessed by their instructor/s, and then they are ‘awarded’ the grading based on class involvement, skill development and syllabus achievement.
‘Under this new system we are finding that children are learning and progressing faster than before, gaining more enjoyment and staying longer,’ instructor David Schulze said.
‘The main areas of development targeted by this program are respect, discipline, team work, conflict and control.’
The first round of awards were presented recently. Ten students were presented with their membership badges and certificates, while seven of them also progressed to their next belt level.
Kumiai-Ryu also offers senior classes for people 12 years old and upwards, concentrating on effective self defence, Karate, Muay Thai, weaponry and fitness
Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
