Parkes Women’s Bowling Club has endowed Jess Knight with Life Membership of the club.
Jess and her husband Gordon arrived in Parkes from Sydney in 1948 to take up a share-farming offer.
She joined the club in 1971 and within two or three years was elected secretary - the following term becoming president.
Served as catering officer for several years, then finally elected member of the selection committee, retaining that position for five years.
All of these positions were performed competently and cheerfully, always with the club’s welfare at heart.
Jess was a handy bowler – winning the minor singles early on and being a member of many winning combinations in club and district events over the years.
She has only ‘hung up her bowling shoes’ in the last few years – but still joins us often at the club.
Apart from local bowls, she was District Delegate from CWDWBA to NSWWBA was a position Jess relished and filled from 1974, also becoming District Secretary in 1982, retiring from both only this year.
All in all, Jess Knight has been involved actively and selflessly for many years in club, district and state levels of which she should be very proud.
We are in admiration of her, and thank her for her contribution to women’s bowls, particularly to Parkes WBC.
