One of the toughest men ever to play Rugby Union & Rugby League is Rotary’s special guest at the Annual Westlime Rotary Golf Day this Sunday.
Ray Price “Mr Perpetual Motion” who was both a Wallaby and a Kangaroo will be in Parkes to support the Rotary Club’s fourth annual event at the Parkes Golf Club.
Ray, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2006 and cleared after surgery in 2007, has widely promoted the need for everyone over 40 to be screened.
His visit to Parkes comes at a opportune time as the Rotary Club has just started its annual sales of bowel screening kits through local pharmacies.
This Golf Tournament has raised around $400,000 over the past three years for medical research into Parkinson’s disease, spinal injury, cancer, mental health and Care West Lodge.
As usual the golf day will be a three person Ambrose with a shotgun start at 9.30am.
It is open to both regular club players and casual players without a club handicap. Cost is $45 per head and this includes sausage and steak sandwiches for lunch and the presentation dinner and auction.
There are special sections for ladies and juniors and the junior teams get the same deal for $35 per player.
This tournament has become famous for the great range of prizes
on offer and this year will be no exception with the prize pool valued at over $5000.
Non-golfers can book for the dinner at $30 per head.
Tickets are available from the Golf Club or Elders Insurance Office in Bogan Street.
So book your team in now to avoid disappointment.
Once again Westlime has become the naming rights sponsor with support from major sponsors GWS Personnel, Northparkes Mines, TTT Signs, J R Richards & Sons, MCA, Pybar and 35 other sponsors. Parkes Rotaract Club and Companions Through Cancer will also assist the organisation of the day.
