Australian Men’s Touch Team to Visit

The Parkes Pumas Touch Association, NorthParkes Mines, Touch Football Australia - in association with local business houses - are pleased to announce that the Australian Open Men's Touch Football Squad will be visiting Parkes on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (17-19 October).

The purpose of the visit is to hold a two day training camp and conduct clinics for players and coaches.

In addition, Gavin West, the No 1 touch referee in Australia will be attendance to conduct a clinic for referees.

On Saturday morning Mr. West will hold a FREE referee clinic at Cheney Park from 11am for badge holders – Level 1 and above.

Any referees interested in the latest referee techniques and strategies are urged to attend this informative clinic.

Referees attending will also be invited to referee the matches to be played on Saturday evening.

A two hour mentoring session for coaches, conducted by Tony Trad, the current Australian Men’s Team coach, will be held on Saturday ,17 October at Cheney Park commencing at 11am.

The session will cover the current trends of the game and will provide a prime opportunity for coaches to develop the game. The cost to attend this session will be $20.00.

A clinic for junior players will be conducted by the Australian Team on Saturday 17th October at Cheney Park commencing at 11.00am. The session is open to all touch football players 11 years and over and will cost $20.00 to attend. It is highly recommended that players intending to trial for Junior Representative Teams should also attend this clinic.

On Saturday evening, a series of touch football matches will be held at Pioneer Oval Parkes commencing at 5.30pm. The best local and regional sides will compete and culminating in an exhibition match between the Australian squad. Local players selected from the preliminary games will have the opportunity to play in this match. There will be a gold coin donation entry fee into Pioneer Oval to watch the touch football matches. Full canteen facilities will be available on the night

On Sunday 18 October a clinic for senior players will be conducted at Pioneer Oval. This clinic will commence at 10am and will also cost $20.00. Parkes Touch Association encourages all local senior touch football players to attend this valuable clinic and learn more about the game and how to improve their playing skills.

Everyone is welcome to view the elite Australian Squad training sessions over the weekend and witness the high standard and commitment involved at this level of touch football.
