It was a day of highs and lows for the Junior Boars when they travelled to Dubbo to play the Reds last Saturday.
The under 13s were not their usual positive selves and went down 32-0 against an attacking Dubbo Reds side.
The under 13s began their match against Dubbo Red with plenty of enthusiasm and looked to score early points on a number of occasions.
With only 14 players making the road trip they were forced to make a couple of key changes to the side which did not help their cause.
The team made a couple of silly errors and failed to take advantage at vital times.
Dubbo were quick to capitalise, racing in four tries in the first half.
The second half saw a more steady approach but key decisions once again at vital parts of the game let the boys down.
Dubbo managed to finish the second half with two more tries leaving them victors 32-0.
Players to stand out for the Boars included Nick Gerry who played very strongly, Mitchell Tamblyn is improving at half in only his seventh game, while Daniel Kroote made some solid runs.
William Haskell and Dylan Sole put in their typical David and Goliath effort with Nathan Barwick and Jason Lowe continuing to improve each week.
On the other end of the scale, the under 15s side had a blinder, winning 63-0.
The team worked well together, calling for the ball and setting up some great tries for each other.
Cameron Standen had a wonderful kicking day, making nine out of nine successful attempts at conversions!
The forwards paved the way. Their pick and drive made huge inroads into Dubbo’s defence.
Artie Wright and Karl Oliver constantly split Dubbo’s defence.
Aaron Boney, in his new position at half-back, gave the backs good ball.
Myles and Blake Smith used their speed and step to set up and score tries (and performed one particularly interesting play which they must have been practicing for a long time!)
Alec Edwards crashed over the line to score the first try.
It was quickly followed by tries from Brad Hart, Iszac Oliver, Blake Smith and Matt Lovegrove.
The second half saw another try each for Matt Lovegrove and Blake Smith, while Brendan Westcott took the score into the 50s.
This week sees home games at Northparkes Oval against Mudgee and Cowra.
