Sydney Swans supporters group now officially accepted

10 Feb, 2012 08:34 AM
In what is an historic achievement for Australian Rules Football in the region, the Parkes Central Sydney Swans Supporters Group now has official status.

While many unofficial supporters groups exist around the country, being an official group is a significant advantage.

The Sydney Swans only have eight official supporters groups outside of the harbour city - Western Australia, Gold Coast, South Melbourne, ACT, Wagga Wagga, Adelaide, Albury - and now Parkes.

The supporters group has been formed by Marg Hoey, who also started the Wagga group a number of years ago.

She is very excited by the group’s official status which means that Swans players will visit Parkes for functions and training sessions, supporters will be able to attend matches together and members will also have the opportunity to attend special functions at the SCG.

The first major event being planned by the supporters group is an overnight trip to Sydney to watch the historic first ever clash of the Swans and Greater Western Sydney Giants on March 24.

For $140, supporters get travel to Sydney and to ANZ Stadium for the match, accommodation and breakfast. Price for match tickets is yet to be finalised.

There are only 20 seats left for the trip. Call Marg on 0414 214 729 to book.
