Parkes police are continuing their investigations into the aggravated robbery of a 21 year-old Parkes man on Wednesday afternoon.
It is believed up to three offenders may have been involved in what police have described as being a totally unprovoked attack.
The incident took place at approximately 5.30pm whilst the man was walking through parkland near Austral Street in Middleton. He was heading to his home in Medlyn Street.
The victim informed police that he had first crossed the railway footbridge and was walking through parkland when he heard noises behind him.
He said he was attacked from behind and hit and punched a number of times before being robbed of his wallet containing a small amount of cash.
It is alleged the main offender – described as being of Aboriginal appearance and wearing a black jacket and blue/green coloured beanie – removed the cash from the wallet before throwing it on the ground and fleeing from the area.
Police report the victim was transported by ambulance to the Parkes Health Service where he was treated for his injuries and allowed to leave.
Police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or observed a group of people within the area of Austral Street late on Monday afternoon to contact them on 6862 9977.
