Local business, Foodservice Central, has won the coveted ‘Best Foodservice Distributor in NSW’ at the Foodservice Suppliers Association of Australia awards in Sydney.

With more than 250 broadline foodservice distributors operating in NSW, it is an outstanding achievement for a local business to win such a prestigious award.

Managing Director of Foodservice Central, Greg Peterson accepted the award at an awards ceremony and spoke on behalf of the company.

“'This award is dedicated to the amazing team that makes up Foodservice Central,” Mr Peterson said.

“Our team is like family to us and without their support and commitment we would not be as successful as we are today.

“It is satisfying to be recognised as the Best Foodservice Distributor in NSW, competing with and beating corporate players in the industry, particularly metropolitan based distributors.”

Foodservice Central started from humble beginnings in the late 1970s making and selling ice out of the Ice Works factory in Hartigan Ave (current McDonalds site).

The business is now one of the largest independent distributors in Australia, comprising of four distribution warehouses in Parkes, Bathurst, Mudgee and West Wyalong, plus Dwyers Fresh Butchery in Parkes.

The Food Factory bulk retail outlet is in Mudgee and the head office/sales centre is based in Parkes.

The company employs more than 75 people and distributes to customers encompassing a footprint of NSW from the Blue Mountains, west past Lake Cargelligo and as far north as Denman and south to the Victorian border.

The business services more than 2,000 customers at least twice a week.

At the last Parkes Shire Council meeting, Mayor Ken Keith presented Anthony Ruzgas from Foodservice Central with an award in recognition of the company’s success.
