Senior Parkes Police are making themselves available for private meetings with members of the public on Thursday, February 23.
Superintendent Bob Ryan said it was part of a program of community engagement.
‘It is about police talking with and seeking the views of the communities we serve, and working with them as we develop responses and strategies to solve crime, reduce violence and fear, and improve community safety,’ Supt Ryan said.
Supt Ryan himself and Inspector David Cooper will be available to meet privately with members of the community from 9am to 12 midday on Thursday, February 23, at the Parkes Shire Council chambers.
‘Effective policing can only occur with the support and assistance of the community,’ he said.
‘Problem solving can only occur where officers know of the problem.
‘We hope to get a much better understanding of where police need to patrol and the issues they need to address.’
Supt Ryan said the NSW Police Force introduced its award winning Customer Service Program in 2007, which focused on how the police force provides responsive and meaningful customer service.
‘Additionally, we are now revitalising Neighbourhood Watch and have commenced this Community Engagement program.’
