During last week’s National SES Week, Friday was designated as ‘Wear Orange to Work Day’.
Parkes SES asked the community to wear something orange to work, to show their appreciation for the efforts of those SES members of the community, workmates or employees who help the local community in times of crisis as a volunteer.
Parkes SES would like to thank all those who showed their support by wearing something orange.
“Many businesses took up the challenge and it was great to see such huge support,” Phil Snow, Parkes SES Local Controller said.
Whilst around town, the following businesses were spotted supporting the SES by wearing something orange and/or decorating their businesses with orange streamers and balloons:
Absolutely Hair, AI Antenna’s, Bogan Gate Primary School, Butterbeef Butchery, Cheeky Cherubs, Cutting Designs, Holden Broderick Motors, IMP4U, Nice Tints Window Tinting and Windscreens, Parkes High School, Parkes Nissan and Hyundai, The Framing Shop by Janet Lee, Trendy ‘Chelle’s, Wedding Hire Parkes and Windmills on Welcome Restaurant
SES volunteers respond to tens of thousands of requests for assistance each year, often in the worst of weather, in events as diverse as floods, storms, rescues, searches and community activities.
If you would like to find out more about volunteering in the SES come down to the Parkes SES Headquarters in Alluvial Street on any Wednesday night at 7.30 pm or call the SES on 1800 201 000 to receive an information kit.
As an SES volunteer you are part of a team of some 10,000 well-trained professionals who share your commitment to helping the community.
