This Friday, June 3, one band will be crowned the winner of the Battle of the Bands Rock band competition!
The event is being held at the LP Johnson Hall at Parkes High School where ten school bands from Western NSW Region will fight it out for the winning trophy and a Wharfdale PA system to the value of $1200 donated which has generously been donated by sponsor of the 2009 competition, Bundaburrah Music.
From approximately 9:30am - 2:30pm, each school band will perform two songs for an appreciative consisting of students from years 7-11 from Parkes High School as well as members of the Parkes community and visiting supporters of the competing bands from the region.
Entry to the Battle of the Bands will be by gold coin donation on the day to support the fundraising for the replacement of the curtains (a CAPA fundraiser) in the LP Johnson Hall.
The PHS SRC will be providing a canteen as well for those who need sustenance throughout the day and Mr Neil Naveau who has already given of his time to prepare ‘the sound’ for the competition will be lending his expertise to supervise the sound on the day.

Wings of Descent and Distorted Mentality (Dubbo Senior College Campus), Something of Value and Sand-a-lot Kids (Parkes high School), Never kiss a shrew (Coonabarabran High School), Cicero’s a Goer (Kinross Wolaroi School), LOL (Gilgandra High School), Necromancers Moon (Molong Central School), Halcyon (Mudgee High School) and Afterburn (Dubbo South Campus).
