Cody who is only eleven years old, was born a cowboy and has ridden poddy calves in two rodeos already, most recently at Coonamble where he won a rope and a huge trophy as an encouragement award.

The Hall family moved from Camden to Parkes to buy a small farm and Cody has been riding horses since he was two.

He is a member of the Parkes Pony Club and loves going to Gymkhanas with his horse, Beauty, and competing in the sporting events like barrel racing and jumping.

“Some people are really competitive, but I do it just for fun” Cody said.

Cody had botox therapy in his muscles when he was very young to help relax them and then he endured orthopaedic surgery on his legs in 2009 where the doctors cut bones, screwed in plates and cut tendons to release his legs further.

18 months later they removed the plates and transferred muscles to straighten his knees.

Cody spent a week in hospital and had lots of rehabilitation and now can walk unaided.

He is very determined and exercises every day.

Cody can’t wait to grow up and ride broncos, and compete in steer roping events at rodeo’s.

For now, he is enjoying being in Year 5 at Holy Family School where his favourite subject is maths.
