Plans are well in hand for the Red Cross Calling Appeal beginning on Saturday 6 March for the week to Saturday 13 March inclusive.
The Centre in Church
Street will be open every day during the appeal and there will be a manned Collection Table on the corner up from the Red Cross centre near the Camera House.
If you are able to call at the Centre there will be free tea, coffee or cool drink with a biscuit or piece slice and a chance to rest awhile and chat with those on duty.
This year we are not having a ‘letter Box Drop” to advertise the appeal as the cost is nearly a $1000.
So we hope you will bring your donation to us or post it to Parkes Red Cross, PO Box 1022 and a receipt will be issued to you.
This year the appeal is organised through Red Cross Headquarters in Melbourne as it is Australia wide.
Elly Tom has organised our receipt books by email to Melbourne and we are ready to go.
We hope on this Saturday, that we might have some High School Students collecting in the main street with Red Cross identification on them.
Lesley Kelly will be coordinating the students, if not this coming Saturday perhaps the next week.
We are hoping some of the schools will again be able to hold Mufti Day’s for the appeal.
All donations of $2 and over are tax deductable and if you need a receipt it will be given, otherwise there will be Red Cross collection buckets.
I have sent out letters to
the churches, schools and
some organisations asking for help.
Norma Oliver 6862 1451 is co-ordinating the roster of helpers for manning the collection table in the street, if you would like to help.
For further information you can contact me Gloria Dietrich on 6862 1945.
We look forward to your support and hope you will call in for a free cuppa during the appeal week.
