Peak Hill has souvenir coin

03 Nov, 2009 01:36 PM
A "gold" coin depicting the history of Peak Hill is now available at Peak Hill Country Crafts & Visitor Information Centre (VIC) at the cost of $2.00.

A slot-machine has been installed and the coin is sure to be popular with tourists and people who have a connection with the town.

On one side is a picture of the Lindner Corner building with the words "Municipality of Peak Hill 1894".

On the other side are the words "September 11th 1890 Gold Strike" and an outline of a miner panning for gold.

Lindner Corner on the Newell Highway/Mingelo Street intersection is now where Country Crafts is situated.

The souvenir coin was the inspiration of the Peak Hill Advancement Association, supported by Parkes Shire Council. Peak Hill Country Crafts, which is open every day, is the sole outlet for the coin.
