The Parkes Health Service’s Healthy Lifestyle Centre has welcomed a kind contribution to help raise money to purchase a new Blood Pressure Machine.
Chronic Care Co-ordinator Christina Kronenberg said a framed painting has been donated by Joyce McWhirter for the centre to raffle off.
‘We have such a wonderful facility here in Parkes. People love the Healthy Lifestyle Centre and it’s so great to see community members wanting to get involved and raise money for the purchase of additional equipment,’ Ms Kronenberg said.
The Parkes Health Service Physiotherapy and Healthy Lifestyle Centre has implemented a range of healthy lifestyle programs targeting people with chronic disease.
The centre provides a socially enriching environment for clients with skilled staff on hand to lend support.
Opened in August 2007, the centre has seen a dramatic increase in positive health outcomes in clients.
‘More and more people are using the centre, and gaining great health benefits,’ Ms Kronenberg said.
‘Following the redevelopment and opening of the new Physiotherapy and Health Lifestyle Centre, the Parkes Health Service now has a well established gymnasium, and it’s now hoped a new BP Machine can be purchased.
‘The cardiac rehabilitation groups will certainly put a new BP machine to good use.’ We are aiming to raise approximately $3000, this will cover the cost of the machine.’
Joyce McWhirter donated the framed painting to give something back to the centre.
‘I use the Healthy Lifestyle Centre and enjoy my visits. I wanted to get involved and raise money to help purchase more equipment for the centre,’ Joyce said.
The raffle commenced selling last week and will be drawn on 17 December. Tickets can be purchased from reception at the Hospital and Community Health Centre or from the Healthy Lifestyle Centre for $1 a ticket.
